HOW THIS COLLECTIVE WORKS

OUR OBJECTIVES

- DELIVERING MUSIC AS THE ARTISTS INTENDED

My Musical Express is an app/web based service created by existing music fans for future music fans.

The contributors have been fans of the artists whose work they are presenting for many years.

However, some of the potential fans of these artists have not even been born yet.

My Musical Express presents a musical history of the popular music scene in the second half of the 20th century: artist by artist, year by year.

Drawing together information, images, videos as well as the music from multiple sources, My Musical Express presents everything about an artist or band in one place for new fans to grow with the act just as the original fans did. At 12 times the speed. One year each month.

Over 150 hours of research and production goes into every episode.

Each episode will present in audio and visual format around four hours of entertainment for the monthly subscription price.

The product will not be cluttered by advertising banners. Revenue will be generated by the subscription fees.

The project can be thought of as a combination of Wikipedia, Spotify, YouTube, fan sites and the artists own websites and social media feeds along with extracts from newspapers and magazines of the time.

Current Sections are:
- The Music of the album in that year and other tracks released as B sides etc.
- The Lyrics of the tracks of that music:
- The Back Stories to the tracks
- News items from contemporary publications including images
- Contemporary reviews of the album and other releases including images
- Contemporary reviews of performances including images and possibly video
- A brief History of the artist or band including images
- The music will be accompanied by synchronised lyrics text.

All other sections will be delivered as text with a voice reading so that subscribers can listen to the publication as if it were a podcast or audiobook. This will be in English to start with but if the demand is enough, it could be delivered in other languages.
